New Initiative to Boost Tourism Between Greece and Armenia
FedHATTA and the Embassy of Armenia in Greece have laid the groundwork for a closer and more coordinated collaboration in the tourism sector.
During a meeting held on Tuesday, July 14, the President of FedHATTA, Lysandros Tsilidis, welcomed the Ambassador of Armenia, Tigran Mikrtsyan. During the discussion, the possibilities for enhancing bilateral tourism flows were explored, as well as the promotion of joint actions between Greek and Armenian travel agencies. Particular emphasis was placed on the direct air connections between Greece and Armenia, which create favorable conditions for the further development of tourism in both countries. Both sides agreed that better utilization of existing flights could significantly contribute to the promotion of the two destinations and the creation of new travel programs.
Among the actions considered are the organization of online presentations (webinars) and business meetings (B2B) between travel agencies from the two countries, aiming to achieve networking goals, knowledge exchange, and the establishment of new professional collaborations. Additionally, the implementation of familiarization trips (FAM trips) for tourism professionals was discussed, allowing them to get to know the destinations, tourism products, and available services in Greece and Armenia.
The next step is to initiate contacts with the Association of Travel Agencies of Armenia, with the prospect of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation, which will establish a stable framework for joint actions and ongoing communication between the two parties for the benefit of tourism.
After the meeting, Mr. Tsilidis stated: “Greece and Armenia are two countries that have strong historical and cultural ties that can and should be transformed into a dynamic tourism collaboration. Direct air connections provide a good basis for cooperation, but they need to be supported by targeted professional actions, new agreements, and organized promotion. FedHATTA is ready to actively contribute to creating more opportunities for travelers and tourism businesses in both countries.”
