The vision of the Federation for opening the large Brazilian market is being realized
The intergovernmental agreement between Greece and Brazil gives a new boost to Greek tourism.
With great satisfaction, the Greek tourism community welcomed the signing of an intergovernmental agreement between Greece and Brazil in tourism, which is expected to elevate the prospects of a new large market in incoming travel flows to our country.
During the visit of Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias to Brasilia, the conclusion of three bilateral agreements was achieved with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, in the fields of defense, air services, and tourism. Specifically, a special memorandum of tourism cooperation was signed, as a result of the intervention of the Ministry of Development, as well as with the support of the Ministry of Tourism.
This memorandum is expected to provide the long-awaited boost for increasing tourism traffic between the two countries. FedHATTA had requested the relevant Ministries to accelerate the necessary steps for official intergovernmental agreements, to achieve more favorable conditions for attracting incoming tourism from this specific country.
The studies for developing new markets conducted by FedHATTA had highlighted Brazil as a large and promising tourism market that needs to be stimulated to boost incoming travel flows to Greece. The Brazilian market is expected to contribute to extending the tourism season in Greece, as the months that Brazilians primarily choose to travel are between December and February.
These facts had formed the basis for a more detailed discussion with the Head of the Trade Department and Advisor of the Embassy of Brazil in Athens, Lilian Duarte, in a meeting held with her by the President FedHATTA, Lysandros Tsilidis, and the President of HATTA, Nikolaos Kelaiditis in the middle of last year.
Regarding the signing of the memorandum with Brazil, Mr. Tsilidis stated: “Actions like this contribute to creating the necessary conditions for extending Greece’s high tourism season, as well as developing strong business ties that will lead strengthen the Greek tourism sector.”
