The President FedHATTA, Lysandros Tsilidis, and the President of HATTA, Nikolaos Kelaiditis, met with the Head of the Trade Department and Advisor of the Embassy of Brazil in Athens, Lilian Duarte, to discuss issues of mutual interest related to tourism between the two countries.

Beyond the mutual willingness to collaborate in promoting the tourism product of both countries, the discussion turned to the existing problem of the lack of a Tourism Cooperation Agreement between Greece and Brazil, which, if it existed, would relieve Brazilian travelers of a 6.5% surcharge for every trip to our country, something that does not apply to other destinations.

The Brazilian market is a large and promising tourism market that needs to be stimulated to have the potential in the near or distant future to see an increase in the incoming flow to Greece. It is also noteworthy that the Brazilian summer lasts from December to February, months during which the largest volume of visitors tends to travel, which is a favorable parameter for extending our tourism season.

To strengthen this emerging tourism market for our country, it is imperative to pay attention to resolving outstanding issues from the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with moves that will unblock the flow of tourists to Greece.
