Meeting of FedHATTA President Lysandros Tsilidis with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Greece Aramis Fuente Hernández

The opening of new channels of cooperation between the Greek and Cuban tourism markets was launched through a working meeting held between FedHATTA and the diplomatic and tourism delegation of Cuba.

With the aim of further developing cooperation between the tourism offices of Greece and Cuba, promoting Cuban destinations in the Greek market and expanding tourist flows between the two countries, the President of FedHATTA, Lysandros Tsilidis met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Greece, Aramis Fuente Hernández, and the Counselor for Tourism Affairs, Yanet Mora Ferguson, The meeting was also attended by Efthymios Varentzakis, representative of Cubana de Aviacion in Greece.

The meeting is part of an already established cooperative relationship, as both the Ambassador and the head of the Cuban tourism sector have participated in the past in presentations of the country to the Greek market, in collaboration with FedHATTA and the Greek tourism offices. The main topic of discussion was the expansion of Cuba’s presence in the Greek travel market, with an emphasis on the increase in organized trips and individual packages. As noted, there is significant room for development, as trips and group excursions are already organized throughout the year by agencies specializing in long-distance destinations, while interest is also being recorded for individual travelers. The Cuban side is preparing specific cooperation proposals, as well as information and advertising material, which will be distributed to Greek travel agencies, in order to enhance the visibility of Cuba and enrich the available content for promoting the destination.

Particular reference was also made to the dynamics of summer holidays in Cuba, with an emphasis on hotel infrastructure and the services offered, as well as the strategy for attracting both organized groups and individual travelers from Greece. Lysandros Tsilidis, President of FedHATTA, stated after the meeting: “Cuba is a destination with a strong identity and significant prospects in the Greek market, while at the same time there is ground for further strengthening travel flows in both directions. FedHATTA actively supports collaborations that bring the tourism offices of the two countries closer together, creating the conditions both for increasing Greek trips to Cuba and for the emergence of Greece as an attractive destination for Cuban travelers. Through targeted actions, exchange of know-how and strengthening of promotion, we can develop sustainable and quality travel products for year-round tourism.”
