Greek Travel Agencies Open Channels with the Chinese Market

With the aim of strengthening tourism flows from the rapidly growing Chinese market to Greece, FedHATTA and HATTA are making a strong showing at the leading international tourism fair ITB China, which is being held from May 27 to 29, 2025, at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center.
As part of their participation in the booth of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) at ITB China, member travel agencies of FedHATTA from across Greece will have the opportunity to conduct professional meetings with their counterparts from China, expanding their partnerships and exploring new ones, aiming to enhance bilateral tourism movement.
Representatives from FedHATTA and HATTA will have the chance to present proposals from Greek travel agencies to a diverse professional audience, with a particular emphasis on luxury, themed, and customized travel markets, as well as the dynamically growing segment of corporate travel and MICE.
This year’s fair recorded a more than 30% increase in exhibition space compared to 2024, hosting over 700 exhibitors from 85 countries and expecting 1,400 selected buyers from all over China. Alongside the fair, the ITB China Conference will take place, hosting over 150 speakers across more than 60 thematic panels, covering critical sectors such as the Chinese business travel market, innovation in travel technology, and global trends in tourism services.
Greece, with a stable and enhanced presence in the Chinese market, seeks to capitalize on the constantly growing demand for authentic, experiential and high-level travel.
FedHATTA President Lysandros Tsilidis stated: “The participation of Greek travel agencies in China’s largest tourism fair once again confirms the strategic significance of the Chinese market for Greek tourism, aiming to further strengthen Greece’s position as a high-value destination. Furthermore, our participation in ITB China comes at a particularly critical juncture, as the Chinese travel market is dynamically recovering and repositioning itself at the center of global tourism interest.”
